So you've decided to stay in paradise and will be spending the majority of your time in Bali or Lombok. Still, you'd really like to visit some of Indonesia's other islands — even on a day trip. Thankfully, you booked your getaway with Anywhere, so this is a solvable problem. From funky bohemian enclaves to practically deserted areas where you can enjoy privacy on uncrowded beaches, island-hopping is part of the fun of visiting Indonesia. The best part? You don't have to search far to find options. Island collections such as Nusa and Gili frequently get travelers from Bali and Lombok, but still offer enough diversity that you can enjoy secluded diving on one island, followed by nightlife on the next. Indonesia is a big beautiful country, and this recommended list of islands is your compass — pick a direction and start exploring!

Menjangan Island

Menjangan Island

Located in Bali’s northwest corner, this island is home to pristine reefs ideal for diving and snorkeling, unspoiled white sand beaches, beautiful Hindu temples, and an abundance of wildlife both in and out of the water. Menjangan (“Deer”) Island is named after the herd of rare Java rusa deer found wandering its savannahs or bathing at its beaches. The island is part of West Bali National Park’s marine reserve. It’s about a 4 ½ hour drive from Denpasar to nearby Pemuteran Beach and Labuhan Lalang, where a motorboat must be hired for the 30-minute trip to the island.
